Dean from Ultimate Blasting has confirmed a tour of their workshop on Saturday morning 14th June (time TBA). You may remember them as guest speakers from a meeting in 2007. We will need numbers closer to the date.

Hey guys if you could tell me if your coming to the tour it would be great, just put it on this thread. We need to know how many sausages to get for the BBQ. A lot of the members at the Dyno Day I spoke to said they were coming and I think it is really great you backing up on 2 Saturdays running (we run out of sausages at the dyno).

We had 14 people attend the workshop tour at Blasting Unlimited, it payed off for some people more than other with their parts being cleaned up for nicks even Theo brought along his home made plumbing. They really put on a good spread for lunch and I got to see some photos of my wagon in the process of being blasted when it was there. The talk combined with photos and material presentation was really informative. A talking point was brought up about the club purchasing a small machine and hiring out to the members (see noticeboard) some members have said they will be using them in the future whether it be for parts, Panels or a whole car. I'll post photos up soon and Theo will be writing a piece about the day for the August mag.

Was a great day. They are a really good bunch of blokes and made us feel very welcome.
I think the possibility of the club buying a machine should be seriously looked at as it would be great for us all to have access to it and would raise funds for the club.

The actual demonstration was very interesting, I would be more inclined to get engine parts and components blasted as in the photo above, rather than have the whole car blasted.

You certainly wouldn't be able to get the parts any cleaner using degreases, scrapers, or wire brushes, not to mention the elbow grease. The alloy parts in particular looked like they were new.

Hey Stephen there was hardly any clean up, it can be done on the grass and it mixes staight in he used about half a bag of media and less than a litre of water on all the jobs together. I think your still finding sand at your place. It's classed as food grade waste so no problems with EPA if you were really waste conscience you could eat the end product. As Croc Dundie said "you could live on it but it tastes like s__t"
