Some great old pics there

RS-1976 was a super neat car. It was sold to a guy who thought he would re-build it and "make it even better". The car was stripped and buggerised to an extent and then sat for many, many years. It was then sold again as a shell with many boxes of parts to it's current owner. It is undergoing a VERY slow rebuild process and will hopefully see the light of day again one day.

TOY RS was also a very nice car. I remember it came up for sale not long before I bought my RS. I went to look at it, but it was a mess! It had passed through many owners after it's glory days and barely resembled that car it once was. It had a tired motor fitted, damaged paint, sound system was half removed with wires hanging out all over the place. Someone obviously bought it though, because it re-appeared again at one of the FF&R Nats (with different plates) and looked a bit tidier. Will dig out some pics soon.

My car from 1997/1998. Gee I had a blast in this car.

.......and my spare car used as an escort "esky" for my 21st in the back yard in February 2000. I bought it for $150 running with 2L auto (full grandma spec) for spare parts. I drove it down the back lane and moved the garden wall 1 metre so I could drive it into the backyard for the party and have an Esky Esky full of beer.....As you can see it became a murial.

Ease up there Sean. It sound like you are talking about me and my German RS RS7666/GROUP1 rego. (Could apply to a few of my previous projects actually-always had the best intentions)

Sounds almost Identical except i don't think I "Buggerised it". It got a full 2 pak respray inside and out, most things were rebuilt and I started to assemble it. I was sad I didn't finish it though.

It did sit for a few years though and was sold as a rolling chassis to a guy in the VIC RSOC. It has recently changed hands and is going back into Group C racing I believe.

Also I did hear (Going on memory from a long time ago) that RS TOY was rolled and re shelled not long after its appearance at one of the 4 cylinder nats.

A couple of photos of the day it left me and an engine bay shot for good measure.

I think we are talking about 2 different cars here? Is/was RS-1976 and RS-7666 the same car? If so, perhaps I am thinking of a different car, because the car I was referring to wasn't sold to someone in RSOC Vic. It was sold to it's current owner in NSW as a rolling chassis. Did you flare the arches on it with a crow bar? If not, it's definately not the same car.

I heard this too actually. Re-shelled and sold, but the owner kept the TOY RS plates.

No not guilty of that one. RS7666 was a different car. You are right RS 1976 was an awsome car. It was doing the rounds when I had AAV33J and I was always envious of it. I got one in the end which was fairly well developed and used by the previous owner for track days.

It would have been as good as RS1976 in the end.

That might explain why RS TOY was in poor shape when you looked at it. A re shell might explain it. It was a good looking RS in its day. Can you remember if it had a sun roof when you looked at it? It does in the nats photo's.

I finally got around to scanning my old pic of TOY RS at the 1996 Nats. Plates are different ofcourse as the old plates stayed with the original owner. It's hard to tell from the pic if it had a sunroof, but I would guess it doesn't.

So Paul, how many times exactly have you resprayed your escort? I take it the turbo setup was in the yellow one with the forest arches, and is the same setup you have now.

Here are a few more... not necessarily SFCC cars, but "blasts from the past" none the less.

The first is from the 1996 FF&R Nats and the 2nd from the 1997 FF&R Nats. Anyone know anything about these gems?
