I'm out.

Original manifold fouled brake cylinder. Bought new one from UK. Now it hits the distributor with the accelerator pump on the front side draught.

Can't get a brake master cylinder in time and neither my very expensive Bosch electronic nor a regular Lucas distributor is low enough to allow the carb to sit proper.

So I have my missus birthday party the week after the track day so I will be 'asked' to prepare the house for that
I was looking forward to wiping some Cossie butt with my new killer motor/gearbox/diff too

Bugger smcka, that's no good I was looking forward to checking out the new setup.

And the Laser is worth more burnt to the ground than slightly damaged Phil But I'll look at nicking my brother in laws extinguisher just in case.

Hold the phone. Research tells me that a 29D Lucass distributor with a side entry cap is the answer.

So a quick trip to the shed reveals a grotty old 1600 XFlow from a mark 2 Cortina with said dizzy. 2 shelves up there sits a brand new side entry cap for same distributor. (Don't you love being a parts guy?)

So... we may have fire this afternoon. Just need to fix the brake master cylinder situation, which I will be doing this morning with a trip to a fabricator. Otherwise, we are running with no air filter

Well, I hope to be. Dropped the master cylinder off to a machinist to spin up some adaptors to take remote lines.

Cleaned out the carbs, I have 4 cylinders firing now (so the old motor wasn't a dud. GGRRR). Pulled greasy old dizzy out of spare motor, threw it in (points gap? pitting? Who cares...) Just have to slot diff in, change unis on drive shaft, hope to have it dyno'd (Friday????) and hope that it is reliable enough to get to Marulan (and back!).

In between all this I have to to prepare for The One With Lumps birthday party, go for job interviews and run a fledgling business.

I need a holiday

We will be starting the day at 9am the address is 8 Praire Oak Rd Marulan which is off Jerrara Rd which is off Marulan South Rd which is off the Hume Hwy sounds a long way but it's only a couple of minutes after the Marulan Truck Stop. I advise you to all fill up and put some more air in your tyres here. If you are heading from Sydney we will be meeting at the Caltex servo at the Cross Roads near Casula, departure time is 7.30am so get there before that. If you can't make the run with us we'll see you down there. If your not running on the day your more than welcome to come along to have a look. You can bring your own lunch but there is a canteen on site that looked quiet good when we went to have a look. Remember your helmet and the clothing requirements.

The Budget Petrol servo at Northmead also has 100RON fuel. It is a special blend that Caltex make for them... basically it is Vortex 98 with 5% ethanol added to bring the octane rating up to 100.

Now... what tyre pressure is recommended for the track?

Be wary of the 100ron with ethanol...there is power to be had from this fuel but only if the engine management is specifically tuned to suit it

I'm good to go
I've been over the car from top to bottom and surprised at what I found. Front wheel bearings needed nipping up, rear brake shoes jumped the cam, tappet clearence issues again but have found more torque now
Have LSD, driveshaft balanced, wheel alignment, mags with Kuhmo V700's.
With the 3.54 diff and 205's I'm geared for the road but we'll give it everything and see how she goes, its handling great.
I'm trailering, so wont stop at servo, see you down there.
